The must-attend event for music lovers is back!

After the unprecedented public success of 2023, Perpignan's Sacred Music Festival continues its journey with all the energy that drives it, to unfold from March 15 to 28 in 2024, a program illuminated by artistic beauty and the quintessence of the unspeakable.

Opening of the Festival Ticket Office on February 6, 2024 on our website and at the Perpignan Tourist Office, place de la Loge, Perpignan (Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm / payment methods accepted: cash and credit cards).

The Sanch procession

What is the Procession de la Sanch? Much more than a simple procession, it symbolizes Christ's Way of the Cross towards his crucifixion. It's worth noting that every year, people come from far and wide to attend this age-old event... with some 15,000 people taking part.

A symbol of piety, cohesion and tradition, it brings together all the villages, via the parish members of the archconfraternity, who participate and bring their misteris (life-size wooden pieces and statues). This majestic procession is one of the most moving expressions of Catalan popular fervor. The music played throughout the day, the songs and the costumes all contribute to creating a unique atmosphere that can't be found anywhere else.

Dressed in large black robes, the "caparutxos", to atone for their sins, parade to the sound of the iron bell of the red-clad penitent at the head of the procession, called the Regidor. It's a cultural and intangible heritage of exceptional longevity, not to be missed.

The procession in Perpignan!

3pm Departure from Saint-Jacques church

Every Good Friday, the Confrérie de la Sanch commemorates the Passion of Christ through its procession. The procession follows a pre-established itinerary through the streets of the historic center. In 2023, the procession started at 3pm from Saint-Jacques church. There are key places, known as "reposoirs", where you can take your time to get a good look at the brotherhoods and the procession. Visitors are generally advised to position themselves in the main squares for a better view, such as Place Gambetta.

Gospel concert with Dominique Magloire

On Friday, March 29th, just after the Sanch procession, the City of Perpignan invites you to a free concert on Place de la République at 7pm with Dominique Magloire & le Gospel Hélios: an incredible performance not to be missed!

The rose and book festival: La Sant Jordi!

Once upon a time... the village of Montblanc! This small village in Catalonia was known for its calm and serenity until the day a ferocious dragon flew over the village and its dwellings. He devoured everything in and around his path. The previously abundant forests and fertile fields burned to the ground in the dragon's flames! Not a flower, animal or grain of wheat remained in his wake.

The inhabitants, terrified but aware that they had to calm the dragon, decided to feed it one person a day. To keep the decision as fair as possible, the victim was chosen daily by lot. Chance soon chose the king's daughter: young, kind, intelligent and, above all, loved by all. Faced with this terrible news, some brave souls offered to take her place, but the distraught king decided that chance had decided otherwise, and that she should face the dragon.

Just as the princess was about to reach the monster's cave, Sant Jordi appeared on his white horse. The princess warned him of the danger, but the knight replied that he had come from afar to free them from the scourge. Thus began a long and intense battle, until the knight killed the dragon with a blow from his spear. From the monster's blood grew a magnificent rosebush of red flowers. Sant Jordi cut a rose to give to the princess.
