CHAPELLE DU TIERS-ORDRE
The Chapel of the Third Order of the Dominican Convent was completed in 1774. It is one of the rare examples of Louis XVI architecture in Roussillon. There are three superimposed levels of painted decoration: the initial religious theme of the painter Jacques Gamelin succeeded under the Directory a revolutionary iconography of a decadent temple, unique in France, with the goddess Minerva enthroned in the center of the choir. The decor was changed again under the July monarchy by the Army, occupying the premises. Transformed into a chapel of the garrison, the building was surrendered to the City at the end of the 20th century.
