GISELLE(S)" SHOW
Presentation
New creation - Contemporary ballet for 17 dancers.
Marie-Claude Pietragalla and Julien Derouault's contemporary ballet "Giselle(s)" draws its power from the theatricality and richness of its choreography. This new feminist vision of romantic ballet reflects the tensions between men and women in our society. It's no longer about Giselle, but about all the Giselle(s) who are victims of betrayal.
What if, despite all this anger, love was still alive?
The first Giselle, now Queen of the Willis, is a timeless witness to the female condition. She has become the queen of an army of female warriors who haunt the world of the living and hunt down their tormentors.
In Act 1, a succession of flashbacks transports us into the intimacy of 5 couples. The Queen of the Willis guides us as helpless spectators through the inevitable drama of these relationships between men and women. Act 2 sees the rebellion of women who have passed into the world beyond.
Marie-Claude Pietragalla and Julien Derouault's story is based on violence against women.
