"SMILE" BASED ON A TRUE STORY
Presentation
📍 Palais des congrès - Auditorium Charles Trénet
How Charlie became Chaplin.
This is the story of "Smile", a play staged entirely in black and white, from the sets to the costumes to the make-up. It's 1910 in a London bar. Charlie has an appointment with a young woman to declare his love for her. Using staging techniques such as slow motion, fast motion, flashbacks and changes of point of view, this play will plunge you into the world of Chaplin's cinema in a bubble of tenderness and poetry.
There are no coincidences, only appointments with destiny, and Charlie Chaplin's was to become Charlie Chaplin. To tell this story, which was to leave an indelible mark on the world of cinema, we needed an extraordinary theatrical object, in every sense of the word, capable of paying a vibrant tribute to this undisputed master of burlesque.
"Smile", the first black-and-white stage play, is as surprising as it is touching, as original as it is stunning, and is certainly the best tribute we could have paid to the man who forever guided cinema into the modern age!
"A sentimental and delicate fable".
