Repairing the living to better love the dead
Adapting a multi-faceted novel, which unravels and unravels over the pages, gradually weaving links between the living and the dead, is generally no easy task. Ludivine de Chastenet and Mikaël Chirinian, assisted on the staging by Salomé Lelouch, have taken Valérie Perrin's magnificent text and turned it into a modern tale full of strong emotions and generosity, drawing on the magic of the original words to tenderly draw a hymn to the beauty of the world that touches and moves the deepest part of the soul.
In a small town in Burgundy, the bubbly Violette, a bit of a saint, a bit of a witch, works as a cemetery caretaker and, with a permanent smile, does her best to bring a bit of joy back to the grieving living. But when Julien, a policeman from Marseilles, enters her world one morning to place his mother's ashes on the grave of a man he doesn't know, Violette's world is about to be turned upside down, and the quiet novel of her peaceful life takes a turn she never expected.
