Presentation
As part of the Es Têt regional project, this belvedere overlooking the river Têt, as well as the Archipel theater (Archi. Jean Nouvel-Brigitte Métra), the pedestrian bridge (Archi. Marc Mimram) and the Canigou mountain, was transformed in 2018 into a vast landscaped public space of over 2 hectares, still based on the collection of Mediterranean, sub-tropical and tropical plants.
The dyke at Orry was built in the 18th century, upstream of Pont Joffre, to protect crops in Bas-Vernet from flooding by the Têt. It was reinforced and extended in the 20th century. Gardens and facilities were gradually added between 1984 and 1990.
As part of the Es Têt regional project, this lookout point overlooking the river Têt, the Archipel theater, the pedestrian bridge and the Canigou mountain was transformed in 2018 into a vast landscaped public space of over 2 hectares. 250 trees have been preserved or planted, and two large play areas have been created, including a 50m-long swing allowing everyone to rediscover this panorama from another angle. Divided into sequences. Among other things, this redevelopment makes it possible to stroll and sit down. Over 300 meters of benches have been created, as well as 50 meters of bleachers, 50 benches and 30 deckchairs.
