The Centre Départemental de Mémoire des Pyrénées-Orientales:
A place dedicated to the transmission of memory and the education of citizenship through history.
Nestled in the heart of Perpignan's historic quarter, in the former Royal Military Academy founded in 1751, which became the GALLIENI barracks in 1921, near Saint-Jean cathedral and the famous 14th-century Campo Santo, the Centre Départemental de Mémoire des Pyrénées-Orientales (CDM 66) is unique in its conception and objectives.
Its aims are clearly defined: to contribute to the education of young people in citizenship; to present on its premises, in a schematic, educational and attractive form, the major armed conflicts in which French men and women fought, including, wherever possible, data relating to local history.
